We have created the Ron Funk Intern Fund in honor of Ronald E. Funk, former President and Board Member of the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County, with the help of his friends and fellow preservationists, Ernst Harting and Sue Loewenstein (owners of the beautiful and historic Windswept Farm in Robesonia, PA). Ron was a long-time supporter of both historic preservation and the Trust. The Ron Funk Intern Fund was created in Ron’s name with the goal to help encourage students to experience historic preservation as a career option.

Ernst Harting and Sue Loewenstein have graciously offered to host a fundraising event in their barn at Windswept Farm in Robesonia, PA on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 2-6 pm. The event will include a delicious BBQ Buffet from Rettew’s Catering, a mobile bar from Roaming Libations, and live music from the local Irish band, The Clovers. The cost to attend will be $75 for members of the Trust and $100 for non-members.

Money raised from the fundraiser will go towards supporting student interns of the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County who help us to continue our mission of educating and advocating for the preservation of historic sites and properties in Lancaster County. Our student interns are vital in keeping the Trust moving forward. They have been crucial in supporting the Trust’s mission by working diligently on our digitization project by organizing and documenting our collection of over 10,000 historic records and documents for digitization so that we can protect our irreplaceable records from permanent damage from fire, water, or deterioration over time. The interns are also assisting with our historic resource surveys, along with other important preservation activities. Your support of this new fund will allow us to continue to hire interns both now and in the future, while at the same time, educating the students on the importance of historic preservation!
