April 2026 Speaker Series: The Many Faces of Freedom

The Many Faces of Freedom: The 2026-2027 Featured Exhibit at the Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley. Seeks to tell how the Revolutionary War affected the Cocalico Valley by looking at the local men who fought and died in the war, as well as providing a glimpse into domestic life in the area during that time.
Bio:
Douglas Gehr is a native of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, where he lives with his wife, Lillian. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley and chairs its Museum & Library Committee. He is also Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Ephrata Cloister Associates and is an active tour guide at the historic Ephrata Cloister.
An ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren (retired), Gehr is the author of several works on local history and the history of the Church of the Brethren. His research interests also include early clockmaking in the Cocalico Valley, and he has published two articles on the subject—one in Pennsylvania Heritage and another in the Journal of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
