Rieber House

2011 award winner - 13 Reiber Haus - compressedIn 2004, the Preservation Trust joined with the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA), the Lancaster Environmental Foundation, Manor Township and the descendants of the Rieber family to move and restore the original family structure (1762) located at the entrance to the Creswell landfill in Manor Township. With the growth and diversity of LCSWMA’s renewable energy initiatives and its need to hold on-site meetings near the source of its initiatives, a concept plan was developed and executed to turn the Rieber House into a mini-conference and environmental center. This project is a successful example of a public-private partnership.
