In 2003, the Historic Preservation Trust received a bequest of the Bowmansville Roller Mill (1850) in Narvon. In order to protect the property in perpetuity, a preservation easement was put into place. This lowered the property value thereby making it affordable to potential buyers. In 2004, the mill was sold to private owners who agreed to abide by the tenets of the easement. This is a good example of how a preservation easement can have a positive economic impact on a property, and help maintain the character and quality of life of a neighborhood.
